Day of Surgery | Day 1 - Nov 19th 2025
We arrived at the hospital at 9:30 am. I had been down this road before with previous surgeries so, I knew what to expect. My middle child (my momma’s boy) came to show support and sat with me, joked with me, and gave me so much hope until they came to get me and take me into surgery. Travis and I had already agreed that for my healing to be optimal we wanted no visitors including the kids until at least day 2 post surgery so that I could be a bit more “aware” of my surroundings. And so that maybe it wouldn’t scare the dickens out of them. At this time we assumed I would be there at least 3 days, and at most 5 days.
I remember being wheeled into the Surgery room, talking to the nurse and counting. I think made it to 7. Next thing I know it was almost two hours later and I am screaming from pain (and cotton mouth) in the recovery room. Not sure how long I had to stay in there, but I remember waking up at least three times in the worst pain I had ever felt in my life. My body felt like it was in shock and fighting against me. They would give me a shot of Delotted (SP) and I would be out again.
I remember waking up in my room, with the worst case of cotton mouth and severe pain. MY husband was SOOO awesome. He was right there with the ice chips and as soon as I swallowed I would see the nurse pumping a shot into my line and I was out again.
I don't even remember what time of day it was that I was starting to stay awake a bit longer and they wanted me to get up and walk. All I knew was any amount of movement was horrifically painful and I was very Out-of-it.
I do remember it being dark outside and what seemed like every other hour I was waking up in pain. I'm sure it was more like every 3-4 hours in reality.
