TO say the pain I was in was incredibly unbearable is an understatement. I was on so much pain medication, “ I “ was not there. They cut me vertically from the top my belly button, through the belly button down to right at the hairline of my pelvis, so about 6-7 inches. So, THAT pain was so unbearable. My husband took such good care of me, and I have to say, everyone needs an advocate to take care of them in the hospital. I was not aware most of the day. Hospitals are not equipped or prepared to deal with someone with autoimmune diseases, I will just put that right there.
My husband had to send back my food several times as they kept sending me Animal products that the ALPHA-Gal does not allow, also, he had to check the meds they were giving me on several occasions as they also contained animal products. This would and did make my recovery harder. They gave me a stool softener that had animal products in it, putting me in so much more intestinal pain, then they tried to give me a medicine to combat that medicine, for which I was also allergic to.. It was a nightmare. We got the food situation taken care of, by evening of the day, all was good. Or better at least.
Back tracking for a minute. 4-5 hours after surgery they insist you get up out of bed and walk to heal. WOAH, this was so hard, it was so painful. But, my hate for being in a hospital drove me to do it anyway. My Middle child came to visit me and brought my grandson, who, by the way, was terrified to see me in that manner. Bless his heart, he gave me a big hug anyway, and then hid behind his daddy the rest of the visit.
An ex: co-worker happened to be in the hospital at the same time, so she stopped in to see me. That was so nice. (unfortunately her family member didn't make it).
